Look at the capability we through away. Look at the effort we put into the system, design & test, manned rating systems, many years , many man-hours , much money. The system/vehicle needed some improvement, but overall was extremely capable. It was the greatest , most capable vehicle on earth, befitting the greatness of the USA .
Regardless of the problems with USA spending, the funds for the shuttle were well- spent , & the USA of all the Nations on Earth should have this capability.
