JSC Special: Celebrate Sally Ride Today at 11 a.m. in the Teague Auditorium

In June of 1983, Dr. Sally Ride became the first American woman and youngest person to fly into space. For her contributions in the field of science and space exploration, Ride received many honors, including the NASA Space Flight Medal and the NCAA's Theodore Roosevelt Award. She was also inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame and the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

Celebrate her life with a special event TODAY, June 27, in the Teague Auditorium. Join JSC Director Dr. Ellen Ochoa as she welcomes special guests author/biographer Lynn Sherr; Sally's sister Bear Ride; and Sally's life partner, Tam O'Shaughnessy. The event will be followed by a book signing with Sherr for her biography of Sally Ride, which is available in the Buildings 3 and 11 Starport Gift Shops.
