Let Private Corporations manage Safety issues-----keep Gov./NASA out of loop!!

The Sierra Nevada Corporation announced its selection of Lockheed Martin Space Systems as its "Dream Chaser" partner.

SNC has had an ongoing relationship with NASA in its Commercial Crew Program. The Dream Chaser is being designed to carry up to seven people to, and from, low earth orbit. The current focus is sending crew and cargo to the ISS, with a built-in launch escape system. This craft will be able to fly autonomously if needed, and will be able to land on any normal, commercial runway.

This is but one example of how NASA is helping commercial firms develop new technologies. Let congress know that you approve of NASA's economic contributions, and that you wish to see more of these types of investments.

  • Bobby Martin What will happen, an accident will occur, board establish , months to years delay, after many iterations, a board chairman will pronounce too dangerous ----repeat of Columbia, challenger---just observe & document.

  • Bobby Martin If you read Krantz 's articles he is quite perplexed re: unwillingness to take risks---read ASAP minutes from 2000 to 2007. Read CAIB report & challenger accident report. Ultimate safety --don't fly.

  • Bobby Martin Good point , be interesting how they avoid gov, beauracy---NASA ASAP , FAA ---they the companies can get it done---must be done like DOD , not NASA who overly glorified astronauts. That can not be repeated, if so we will be bogged down overly dwelling on death of few astronauts whereas go read DOD reports on test aircraft.
