Dear Elected Official,
There are several principles I believe you must follow in the midst of this immigration debate. I ask that you read these and ensure that any bill that you vote in favor of follows these principles. I want immigration reform, but I believe that it is crucial to our nation's security that border security be addressed first. I further believe that this is a reasonable proposal that could have bipartisan support.
1. Border security verification is a critical component of Immigration Reform. Failure to address this concern is a deal breaker.
2. We enthusiastically welcome legal immigration and ASSIMILATION.
3. We support the granting of "Assimilation Vouchers" for schools and programs that teach American Civics, American History and ESL.
4. Military Service should be given preferential treatment in any comprehensive immigration plan and discussion.
5. Legal and properly calibrated immigration has been historically good for America and will be in the future.
6. Whatever "pathway" is created must NOT be a vehicle of growing the social welfare state, including Obamacare.
7. Federalism needs to be respected, not disparaged.
8. Immigration should not undermine the American worker.
Thank you for reading this message and I hope these will be guiding principles for you and your vote in this important debate.
